Jana, (pronounced Jay'-na), is a soulful singer who captivates audiences with her natural ability to crawl inside a song and bring it to life.
Born and raised in Minnesota by a loving family, Jana spread her wings by touring around the world as a lead singer and also as a backup singer for many super stars including Fleetwood Mac, Don Henley, Sheena Easton, and currently Stevie Nicks.
As a background singer, momentous occasions include recording a live DVD and CD with Fleetwood Mac titled, "Live In Boston", performing with them for the American Music Awards and Dick Clarke's New Year's Rockin' Eve, singing with "Eagles" legend, Don Henley, on his solo CD titled, "Inside Job", joining him at Woodstock, and singing twice for President Clinton, and many other television performances including "The Tonight Show", "Soul Train", and "Regis and Kathi Lee." She also sang a solo with Paul Simon in Los Angeles. The other stars she has sung with are Celine Dion, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Smokey Robinson, The Time, The Beach Boys, Peabo Bryson, Brian Wilson, Coolio, Kenny G., Jimmy Buffet, Eddie Money, David Pack (Ambrosia), Mary Wilson (The Supremes), Huey Lewis, Karyn White, Ronnie Spector, Ron Dante (The Archies), Jimmy Messina, The Dixie Cups, and The Crystals.
As a lead singer, Jana's credits include winning twice on Star Search, opening the Minnesota Governor's Inauguration for Jesse Ventura at the Target Center, and playing two other Minnesota Governor Inaugurations and one Mayoral Inauguration. She has starred in the top corporate bands, including "Synergy", and opened the show for Mardi Gras in New Orleans as the warm up act for Little Richard and The Doobie Brothers. Another highlight was when she was asked to be the only non-celebrity to sing lead vocals on a live DVD titled "Chapel of Love, Jeff Barry and Friends." She has sung on numerous commercials as well. Many of her performances have also included current, video style choreography similar to Janet Jackson or Britney Spears.
As a songwriter, Jana co-wrote a song that Sheena Easton recorded. Other songs have been sold to international licensing companies for national and international use. And currently, the original music she has sung and co-written is being pursued by movie producers.
She also manages, books, and stars in a successful band of her own over the past 11 years called "Jana and The One" out of Santa Barbara, California. They have opened for "The Spinners" and "Ambrosia" and headlined top events in California including The Santa Barbara International Jazz Festival, The Zoofari Ball, The Sheriff's Ball, The PARC Foundation, and other exclusive festivals and locations. It is common for them to entertain the television and movie industries top producers, executives, directors, and movie stars including Michael Douglas, Kirk Douglas, and John Cleese.
Jana's high energy and happy disposition, versatility and vast experience in many musical styles, mixed with her reliability and promptness have made her one of the busiest singers in the world.
